HUGH O'NEILL IN IRELAND

 

HUGH O'NEILL was born in the historic city of Belfast, Ireland in 1959. O'Neill began drawing and painting at an the early age of five. He studied for Fine Arts Degree at the established University of Ulster in Belfast City Ireland spending some of that time also studying in Nante and Paris, France.His University thesis research was entitled "Painters of Peasants in 19th century France"

After graduating with a major honors degree in 1985 O'Neill returned to France, painting for a period of time in and around the towns of Nice and Antibes. O'Neill has gained national and international recognition as one of the most gifted and collected of painters working today. His exhibitions are keenly attended and enjoy sell out success. He now resides in Southeast Florida.His expert knowledge of art history,art materials and the business of art is derived from a qualified teaching experience and as a successful working artist

AMERICAN COLORIST with European training: all have come together in a style that is uniquely his .A visual musician who is forever searching for the ultimate melody on canvas. O'Neill comments:

"The beauty and visual stimulation I experience at a scene is my sole motive for the beginning of my own creative process. I am as figurative in my work as the viewer perceives me to be and as contemporary as new grass in an old field. In terms of my style of painting I believe modernism is simply a frank expression of ones self and therefore must conclude my work could be defined as such ." Hugh O'Neill

INSPIRED O'Neill is a naturally gifted instructor and speaker with an impressive knowledge of art history. His popular style of teaching has been utilized at numerous leading institutions of learning including Lighthouse Center for the Arts, Armory Art Center, Vero Beach Center for the Arts. North County Arts association Jupiter Island Art society.
